DANCEWORX STUDIO POLICIES & EXPECTATIONS

Dance classes are structured learning environments. We expect dancers to arrive ready to learn, participate, and contribute positively to their class.

Dancers are expected to:

• Treat coaches, staff, and other dancers with respect.
• Listen and follow directions.
• Participate and cooperate with their class.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate self-control.
• Use appropriate, family-friendly language.
• Respect studio property and equipment.

A dancer may be removed from class for inappropriate or vulgar language, refusing to participate or cooperate, disruptive behavior, or physically or verbally aggressive behavior.

Only dancers enrolled in a class may participate. Friends and siblings may not enter the studio during class.

Electronics are not permitted during class unless approved by the instructor.

Dancers should arrive on time, dressed, and ready to dance and learn.

Warm-ups are an important part of class and help prepare dancers to move safely. Late arrivals can disrupt class and may miss important warm-up exercises or instruction.

If you know your dancer will be late, please notify the DanceWorX office.

Before Class

• Use the restroom before class begins whenever possible.
• Bring a water bottle into the studio.
• Tap shoes may never be worn in the restroom.
• Dancers should have the appropriate dance shoes on or with them when entering class.

Pickup & Waiting

Parents of older dancers are encouraged to drop off and pick up when their dancer is comfortable attending class independently.

Parents of younger dancers are welcome to remain in the studio during class, and all parents are always welcome to stay if they or their dancer are more comfortable doing so.

Because lobby and hangout space is limited, we simply ask families who choose to stay to be mindful of available space and keep lobby noise to a minimum while classes are in session.

• Water is the only drink permitted in dance areas.
• No food or gum in the studios.
• No street shoes on dance floors.
• Do not hang on ballet barres.
• Do not touch mirrors or misuse studio equipment.
• Keep lobby noise to a minimum while classes are in session.
• Profanity and inappropriate language are not permitted.

Closed Classes

DanceWorX classes are generally closed-door to minimize distractions and allow dancers to focus.



Coaches may open classroom doors during the final few minutes of class at their discretion. When invited to observe, parents may watch, take photos, or record their dancer.

Proper dance attire allows dancers to move safely and helps instructors clearly see alignment and technique.

General Dress Code

Hair
Hair must be secured and kept out of the dancer’s face. Ballet dancers with long hair must wear a secure bun.

Clothing
Unless otherwise noted for a specific class, dancers should wear fitted dance or athletic clothing such as:

• Leotards
• Leggings
• Dance shorts
• Sports bras or crop tops
• Fitted tanks or T-shirts

Baggy clothing should not be worn in classes where instructors need to see body alignment.



Dance Shoes
Appropriate dance shoes are required for most classes. Shoes should be on the dancer or in hand when entering class.

Tennis shoes used for dance should be clean and designated for indoor use whenever possible.

Leotards, tights, and select dance shoes are available for purchase through DanceWorX. Our office staff can assist with sizing and requirements.

Consistent attendance is important for dancer progress and class continuity.

When space and scheduling allow, dancers may attend an approved make-up class. Make-up classes are not guaranteed.

To attend a make-up class:

1. Contact the DanceWorX office for available options.
2. Pick up a make-up slip from the office.
3. Give the slip to the coach of the make-up class.
4. Return the completed/signed slip to the office.



Studio closures, holidays, and weather-related cancellations are not automatically rescheduled.

DanceWorX places dancers in classes based on several factors, including:

• Age
• Ability and technical readiness
• Attention span
• Maturity
• Overall class fit



Placement adjustments may be made after classes begin if instructors determine another class would better serve the dancer.

Classes generally require a minimum of 5 enrolled dancers to remain active. DanceWorX reserves the right to combine, adjust, or cancel classes when enrollment is insufficient.

All class transfers and withdrawals must be submitted by email.

This includes switching to another day, time, or class.

Transfers are subject to availability and require instructor or administrative approval.

To avoid being charged for the upcoming month, withdrawal requests must be received before the 1st of the month. Tuition already processed is not automatically refunded.



Our regular dance season runs September through May, with additional summer sessions offered June through August.

A valid credit or debit card is required to remain on file.

Monthly Tuition

• Tuition is due on the 1st of each month.
• Tuition is automatically processed using the payment method on file.
• A grace period is provided through the 10th of the month.
• A $15 late fee may be applied after the 10th.
• Accounts more than 30 days past due may result in the dancer being withdrawn from class.



Payments may also be made through the Parent Portal or submitted to the studio office prior to automatic processing.

Annual Registration Fee

A $50 family registration fee is required at the beginning of each dance year or when a family first enrolls.

Registration fees are non-refundable.

DanceWorX families have access to our online Parent Portal.

Families can use the portal to:

• View account balances and transactions
• Make payments
• Review enrolled classes
• Access studio information and updates

Families who have forgotten their password can use the password reset option on the Parent Portal login screen.

The studio calendar, including scheduled closures, important dates, and studio events, can be found in the DanceWorX App.

Families are encouraged to check the app regularly for the most current schedule information.

Monthly tuition is based on the full dance season and is not prorated for holidays, scheduled studio closures, or weather-related cancellations.



Make-up classes may be available, but classes are not automatically rescheduled by DanceWorX.

Production Fee

$50 per dancer | Maximum $100 per family

Includes:

• Dancer production T-shirt
• Digital recording access for all four performances

Classes will be designated as Cast A, Cast B, or No Show.

Dancers under age 9 are generally scheduled to perform in two of the four performances to provide an age-appropriate performance experience.

Additional expenses may include:

• Costumes and required shoes
• Performance tickets for parents, siblings, family, and friends
• Professional class or production photos

Costumes and shoes purchased by families are theirs to keep.

Recital Fee

• Professional class photos

Costumes and shoes purchased by families are theirs to keep.
